Fundraising and Fun at the Jordan Sinnott Charity Cricket Day 2024
On Sunday 18th August 2024, we hosted our annual Jordan Sinnott Foundation Trust Charity Cricket Day at Shepley Cricket Club. It was an amazing day filed with excitement, community spirit and support, all under a typically sunny yet cool August sky.
The event was a huge success, with the approved food-sponsored BBQ raising an incredible £1,200 alone. However, the highlight of the fundraising effort was the ever-popular raffle. Thanks to the generous donations of local businesses and restaurants, we had some truly fantastic prizes on offer, which contributed significantly to the day’s fundraising total.
This year’s Big Red Trophy was fiercely contested, and once again, the hosts, Shepley Cricket Club, emerged victorious. They cruised through their semi-final against Golcar and faced newcomers Kirkburton in the final. Kirkburton had a nail-biting semi-final, narrowly defeating the Honley Hippos, a team well-known for their big-hitting opening partnership. Despite their efforts in the final, Kirkburton were no match for Shepley’s strong batting line-up, who powered their way to victory.
Adding to the lively atmosphere, we were treated to the incredible talent of Mason Whittle, who performed his first acoustic set between the semi-final and final. His soulful voice and guitar brought a special vibe to the event, leaving everyone in high spirits. After the trophy was lifted, Mason returned for a second set, and fans and players alike enjoyed the music as they soaked up the late afternoon sun, beverages in hand.
In total, we raised over £3,500 for the Jordan Sinnott Foundation Trust, a phenomenal achievement, and a testament to the dedication of all involved. Plans are already in motion for our 2025 Charity Day, which may see an exciting new format due to the enthusiasm of all four teams. We are delighted to announce the likely return of Scholes Cricket Club!
