On Sunday 11th of June, Jordan’s mum, chair of JSFT and all-round superwoman Melanie Tait will be enduring a parachute jump in Bridlington to raise money for our foundation and Macmillan.
We spoke to Mel to find out a little more.
“I will be jointly fundraising for 2 special charities that are both very close to my heart, the JSFT and Macmillan Cancer Support.
The JSFT means everything to me and gives me a purpose in my life. Losing my son Jord in such tragic circumstances in January 2020 never gets any easier, but knowing that Jords memory continues to live on through his charity is everything. The JSFT provides vital help to make children’s and young people’s dreams come true, enabling them to access sports, enriching that child’s or young person’s life. It really does make a difference.
The Macmillan Jump for Life is also very personal to me.
In August 2022, I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, a terminal Myxoid sarcoma tumor. In December 2022, I was given a week to live and was provided with the most amazing palliative care.
I’m still here surviving and couldn’t have done this without the fantastic oncology staff and support from Macmillan. I have battled, cried, laughed, lost my hair, lost my way, found my way, and been loved by so many people who have followed my journey.
So I’m throwing myself out of a plane to raise as much money as I can for the JSFT and Macmillan, which are both fantastic charities.
It really is a bloody good life, so keep smiling. I do”
We couldn’t be any prouder or in any more admiration.
The Macmillan Jump For Our Lives will be held in Bridlington on Sunday, 11th June.
